A New Perspective
"Fresh" is the word at Hershberger's Farm and Bakery
Not everyone has the space or the time to nurture their own garden full of succulent fruits and vegetables or the ability to make baked goods from scratch from natural ingredients.
Welcome to Hershberger's Farm and Bakery, where locally grown, handpicked produce is brought in fresh each morning.
Providing the crispiest, juiciest possible produce is something that Hershberger's has made a priority, and in doing so produce goes from field to the dinner table, meaning all of the flavor and nutrition can be savored in each bite.
"When it's picked and the produce is fresh, the sugar content in the sweet corn or berries is so much better when it's ripe and fresh off the farm," Owner Dan Hershberger said.
If a fruit or vagetable is in season, chances are good it's on the shelf at Hershberger's. Already in season are strawberries, peas, sweet candy onions, and radishes. In the weeks to come Hershberger's will feature other seasonal fresh produce including red potatoes, green beans, raspberries and tender sweet corn. Of course that is just the tip of the iceberg.
"We always have a wide variety of whatever fruits and vegetables are in season and are grown locally," manager Steve Hershberger said. "And it is always freshly picked. If it is in season, we try to have it." While the fruits and vegetables are locally grown and straight from the farm, they aren't the only fresh product at Hershberger's.
Every morning owner Dan Hershberger rises early, fires up the bakery and chums out some tantalizingly exquisite baked goods. Bread, pies, rolls, cookies, donuts, fry pies and an assortment of baked goods are made fresh each and every morning. "We make everything from scratch," Hershberger said. "We use our own fresh fruit to cook our own fillings. We don't buy any dough. We want our products to be as natural and fresh as they can be."
While fresh is the word at Hershberger's Farm and Bakery, there is a multitude of other wonderful experiences to take in while visiting this family friendly destination.
